Saturday 4th, Saturday 11th, Sunday 12th April , Saturday 2nd + Sunday 3rd May.

Firing weekend will be Friday 19th June - Sunday 21 st June 2020. (or a selection of dates that will be mutually agreeable)

Students will learn about prospecting for clay and sand in a landscape, processing materials using wet and dry methods, various hand building techniques, using British prehistoric pots as their models , Neolithic baggy pots, carinated bowls , Bronze Age beakers and urns, Iron Age storage Jars. The pots will then be fired in in a hearth and there will be a chance to participate in cob kiln building and firing.

Experimental archaeology methodology will be built into the workshop and archaeological source materials will be used. There will be a firing weekend in east Devon. This is an immersive ceramic learning experience, where you will work so closely with me, that afterwards you will feel as though you’ve been through an apprenticeship. There are only 2 full places on this course.

There are 2 or 3 opportunities to spend a day in the workshop learning 2 - 3 basic handbuilding techniques and to spend the weekend firing the pots in east Devon. The price for this option is £150.
